Διάβασα την ανάρτηση της Μαρίας Καρυστιανού και πάγωσα. Νόμιζα ότι είχαμε φτάσει στον πάτο, ότι μετά από τόσο πόνο, τόσο πένθος, κάποια ελάχιστη δικαιοσύνη θα αναδυόταν. Μα όχι. Αντιθέτως, μας προκαλούν ξανά.
Ως φοιτήτρια, δεν μπορώ να διανοηθώ πως αυτοί που αποφασίζουν για τις ζωές μας αντιμετωπίζουν τη μνήμη των νεκρών και τον πόνο των συγγενών με τέτοιο κυνισμό. Μιλούν για «παράβαση καθήκοντος» λες και χάθηκαν απλώς έγγραφα, όχι ανθρώπινες ζωές.
Ο πρώην Υπουργός που ήξερε, που προειδοποιήθηκε, που μίλησε στη Βουλή χωρίς ντροπή, τώρα ίσως να γλιτώσει με μια απλή κατηγορία. Και οι υπόλοιποι βουλευτές; Συνενοχικοί στη συγκάλυψη.
Πόσο ακόμη να αντέξουμε; Πόση σιωπή ζητούν από εμάς; Δεν είμαστε αριθμοί. Ήμασταν, είμαστε, και θα είμαστε οι φωνές αυτών που χάθηκαν. Και δεν θα ξεχάσουμε.
Αν εσείς ξεχάσατε τις υποσχέσεις σας, εμείς θυμόμαστε τα παιδιά που δεν γύρισαν ποτέ.

A university student reads Maria Karystianou’s outcry – and feels it’s addressed directly to her.
I read Maria Karystianou’s post and I froze. I thought we had hit rock bottom, that after all this pain and mourning, some shred of justice would finally emerge. But no. Once again, they provoke us.
As a student, I cannot comprehend how those in power treat the memory of the dead and the grief of the families with such cold indifference. They speak of “breach of duty” as if what was lost were just paperwork, not human lives.
The former Minister who knew, who was warned, who stood in Parliament and denied, may now walk away with only a minor charge. And the other MPs? Complicit in the cover-up.
How much more are we supposed to endure? How much silence do they expect from us? We are not numbers. We were, we are, and we will always be the voices of those who were lost. And we will not forget.
If you have forgotten your promises, we remember the children who never came back.
