Αυτό το καλοκαίρι δεν μοιάζει με τα προηγούμενα. Ούτε ήσυχο θα είναι, ούτε ανέμελο. Αντί για χαλάρωση και “μπάνια του λαού”, έρχεται με μια βαριά πολιτική κουφόβραση, που προμηνύει αιφνιδιασμούς, ραγδαίες εξελίξεις και – γιατί όχι – πρόωρες κάλπες.
Το κομματικό σκηνικό μοιάζει κατακερματισμένο και άρρωστο. Η κυβέρνηση επιβιώνει περισσότερο χάρη στην αδυναμία της αντιπολίτευσης, παρά λόγω της δικής της ισχύος. Οι θεσμοί τρίζουν, τα media στη συντριπτική τους πλειονότητα δεν επιτελούν τον ελεγκτικό τους ρόλο και τα ισχυρά οικονομικά συμφέροντα οργιάζουν. Όλα αυτά συνθέτουν ένα εκρηκτικό περιβάλλον που δεν μπορεί να αντέξει, λένε πολλοί, μέχρι το 2027 – όσο κι αν το διακηρύσσει ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης.
Κι όσο πλησιάζει ο Ιούλιος, φουντώνει το πολιτικό παρασκήνιο. Από τη μία, τα σενάρια πρόωρων εκλογών επανέρχονται δριμύτερα. Από την άλλη, το ενδεχόμενο δημιουργίας νέου κόμματος από τον Αντώνη Σαμαρά ταράζει τα νερά στα δεξιά της Νέας Δημοκρατίας. Μάλιστα, στελέχη με εσωκομματικές ενστάσεις ετοιμάζονται για κάθε ενδεχόμενο.
Την ίδια ώρα, αλλαγές συντελούνται και στα media, με ανακατατάξεις, συμμαχίες, ακόμα και φήμες για πωλήσεις ιστορικών τίτλων. Ενδεικτικό, το κλείσιμο του Attica TV και η ενίσχυση του Action 24 στον μιντιακό χάρτη.
Όλα δείχνουν ότι φέτος δεν θα έχουμε «πολιτικές διακοπές». Το καλοκαίρι του 2025 μοιάζει με προεκλογική περίοδο – έστω και άτυπη. Και ο Σεπτέμβρης ίσως να μην αργήσει να μας φέρει εκπλήξεις…

This summer is not like the previous ones. It will be neither quiet nor carefree. Instead of relaxation and “people’s baths”, it comes with a heavy political hornet’s nest, foreshadowing surprises, rapid developments and – why not – early elections.
The party scene looks fragmented and sick. The government survives more thanks to the weakness of the opposition than to its own strength. The institutions are creaking, the media in their overwhelming majority are not performing their controlling role and powerful economic interests are rampant. All of this adds up to an explosive environment that cannot last, many say, until 2027 – no matter how much Kyriakos Mitsotakis proclaims it.
And as July approaches, the political backdrop is heating up. On the one hand, early election scenarios are coming back with a vengeance. On the other hand, the possibility of Antonis Samaras creating a new party is rocking the boat on the right of New Democracy. Indeed, members with internal party objections are preparing for any eventuality.
At the same time, changes are also taking place in the media, with rearrangements, alliances and even rumours of sales of historic titles. Indicative, the closure of Attica TV and the strengthening of Action 24 on the media map.
All indications are that there will be no “political holidays” this year. The summer of 2025 looks like an election period – even if informal. And September may not be long in bringing us surprises…
