Η πολιτική συγκυρία απαιτεί καθαρές στρατηγικές. Ως Έλληνας στρατιωτικός, πιστεύω ότι υπάρχουν τέσσερις κινήσεις-κλειδιά για να αποτρέψουμε την ένταξη της Τουρκίας στο πρόγραμμα SAFE των 150 δισ. ευρώ.
Πρώτον, πρέπει να προβάλλουμε διεθνώς την επιστολή της Προέδρου του Ευρωκοινοβουλίου Ρομπέρτα Μέτσολα, που απορρίπτει τη μεθόδευση της Κομισιόν για συμμετοχή της Τουρκίας, λόγω έλλειψης νομικής βάσης.
Δεύτερον, να απαιτήσουμε την υπογραφή διμερούς αμυντικής συμφωνίας ΕΕ-Τουρκίας, η οποία δίνει σε Ελλάδα και Κύπρο δικαίωμα βέτο.
Τρίτον, να προωθήσουμε το θέμα Baykar, της τουρκικής εταιρείας drones, στη βάση των αποκαλύψεων της Washington Post.
Τέταρτον, να εφαρμόσουμε αυστηρά τον Κανονισμό 452 για τον έλεγχο ξένων επενδύσεων, μπλοκάροντας την Baykar στο όνομα της εσωτερικής ασφάλειας της ΕΕ.
Τώρα είναι η στιγμή να δείξουμε πυγμή και διπλωματική αποφασιστικότητα.

The current political climate demands clear strategies. As a Greek military officer, I believe there are four critical moves to prevent Turkey from joining the €150 billion SAFE program.
First, we must internationally highlight the letter from European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, which rejects the Commission’s maneuver to include Turkey due to lack of legal basis.
Second, we should demand a bilateral defense agreement between the EU and Turkey, mandating veto powers for Greece and Cyprus.
Third, we must bring attention to Baykar, Turkey’s drone company, based on the revelations published by the Washington Post.
Fourth, we should strictly enforce Regulation 452 on foreign investment screening, blocking Baykar in the name of EU internal security.
Now is the time to demonstrate strength and diplomatic resolve.
