Στα βουνά ζούσε ένας νεαρός Αετός.
Κάθε φορά που έβλεπε σύννεφα να μαζεύονται, κρυβόταν στη φωλιά του.
«Οι καταιγίδες θα με συντρίψουν» σκεφτόταν.
Μια μέρα, ο γέρος Αετός τον πλησίασε:
«Μικρέ, δεν γεννήθηκες για να κρύβεσαι. Όταν έρχεται η καταιγίδα, μην την αποφεύγεις. Πέτα πάνω της».
Ο νεαρός δίστασε, μα άνοιξε τα φτερά του και πέταξε.
Ο άνεμος ήταν δυνατός, η βροχή τον τύφλωνε∙ όμως κάθε φορά που έφτανε πιο ψηλά, ένιωθε τον ουρανό καθαρότερο, το φως πιο λαμπερό.
Κι εκεί, πάνω από τα σύννεφα, αντίκρισε τον ήλιο να τον περιμένει.
Από τότε δεν ξαναφοβήθηκε ποτέ.
Ηθικό δίδαγμα:
Ο αετός δεν φοβάται τις καταιγίδες∙ πετά πάνω τους. Έτσι κι ο άνθρωπος, δεν βρίσκει ελευθερία κρυμμένος, αλλά υψώνοντας το θάρρος του.

The Eagle and the Storm
In the mountains lived a young Eagle.
Whenever dark clouds gathered, he hid in his nest.
“The storms will crush me,” he thought.
One day, the old Eagle came to him:
“You were not born to hide, little one. When the storm comes, do not avoid it. Fly above it.”
The young Eagle hesitated, but spread his wings and soared.
The wind was fierce, the rain blinded him; yet with every rise, the sky grew clearer and the light brighter.
And there, above the clouds, he found the sun waiting for him.
From that day on, he never feared again.
Moral:
The eagle does not fear the storms; he flies above them. So too must man rise with courage, not hide in fear.
