Στο δάσος, το Σπουργίτι ζούσε φοβισμένο. Όποτε έβλεπε το γεράκι, κρυβόταν σιωπηλά.
«Η σιωπή με προστατεύει» έλεγε στον εαυτό του.
Μια μέρα, η Κουκουβάγια του είπε:
«Η σιωπή είναι όπλο, μικρέ, αλλά όχι πάντα αρκετό. Αν δεν ακουστεί η φωνή σου, θα σε ξεχάσουν τα δέντρα, θα σε αγνοήσουν οι σύντροφοι».
Το Σπουργίτι τότε μάζεψε το θάρρος του και κελάηδησε δυνατά. Το γεράκι τον άκουσε, μα έτρεξαν γύρω του δεκάδες πουλιά και τον προστάτευσαν.
Από εκείνη τη μέρα έμαθε πως η σιωπή κρύβει, αλλά η φωνή ελευθερώνει.
Ηθικό δίδαγμα:
Η σιωπή είναι ασπίδα, μα η φωνή είναι δύναμη∙ μόνο όταν μιλάμε, γινόμαστε πραγματικά ελεύθεροι.

The Sparrow, the Owl, and Silence
In the forest, the Sparrow lived in fear. Whenever he saw the hawk, he hid in silence.
“Silence protects me,” he whispered to himself.
One day, the Owl told him:
“Silence is a weapon, little one, but not always enough. If your voice is never heard, the trees will forget you, and your friends will not see you.”
So the Sparrow gathered his courage and sang loudly. The hawk heard him, but dozens of birds rushed to protect him.
From that day on, he learned that silence hides, but the voice sets free.
Moral:
Silence is a shield, but voice is power; only when we speak do we become truly free.
