«Η απόφαση του δικαστηρίου για τη φονική πυρκαγιά στο Μάτι είναι μια μικρή νίκη για τη δικαιοσύνη, αλλά ταυτόχρονα μια οδυνηρή υπενθύμιση της βαθιάς αδικίας που κυριαρχεί στη χώρα μας. Οι πολιτικοί, όπως η τότε περιφερειάρχης Ρένα Δούρου, γλύτωσαν ξανά — και κανείς δεν ξέρει με ποια σκοτεινά ανταλλάγματα. Την ίδια ώρα, εκατοντάδες ψυχές κάηκαν ζωντανές και μόνο οι υπηρεσιακοί της Πυροσβεστικής θα βρεθούν στη φυλακή.
Αυτοί που είχαν την ευθύνη να προστατεύσουν τους πολίτες πληρώνουν τώρα με την ελευθερία τους, ενώ οι πολιτικοί που διέπραξαν πολιτικές παρεμβάσεις και αποτυχίες συνεχίζουν να κυκλοφορούν ατιμώρητοι. Αυτό είναι το πιο σκληρό χτύπημα στη συνείδηση του κόσμου, που βλέπει τη δικαιοσύνη να κάνει διακρίσεις ανάμεσα σε ισχυρούς και αδύναμους.
Η απόφαση αυτή στέλνει, όμως, ένα καθαρό μήνυμα: Το άσυλο και η ασυλία των κρατικών και πολιτικών παραγόντων τελειώνουν. Ο ελληνικός λαός απαιτεί justice, accountability, transparency — όχι ψεύτικες φιέστες και πολιτικά παιχνίδια. Και μέχρι να υπάρξει πλήρης λογοδοσία, η οργή και η απογοήτευση θα συνεχίσουν να καίνε πιο δυνατά από κάθε φωτιά.»

The court’s decision sends civil servants to prison for their role in the deadly Mati wildfire, while politicians who bear the true responsibility escaped punishment—exposing a deep flaw in justice and immunity that erodes public trust in the state.
The recent court ruling on the deadly Mati wildfire is a small victory for justice, but also a painful reminder of the profound injustice in our country. Politicians like former Attica Governor Rena Dourou escaped punishment once again—nobody knows what dark deals were made behind closed doors. Meanwhile, hundreds of souls burned alive, and only civil servants of the Fire Department face prison.
Those entrusted with protecting citizens are now paying with their freedom, while politicians responsible for their failures continue walking free. This is the harshest blow to public conscience, which sees justice discriminate between the powerful and the powerless.
Yet, this decision sends a clear message: The asylum and immunity of political and state officials are over. The Greek people demand justice—not fake ceremonies and political games. Until full accountability emerges, anger and disappointment will burn hotter than any fire.
